eTrade is a well known online investment platform. According to our insights, they’re one of the biggest in the world. But if you have an account on their website that you’re not using anymore, you might be considering to close it. If that’s the case: Don’t look further, because I’m about to explain how you can do that with a special removal form.
I’ll show you below how you can remove your profile. But you need to careful because the removal process depends on the type of account you have:
1 First, you need close your positions and orders
It speaks for itself that an account can’t contain any open orders, positions or money transfers. If that’s the case, you need to make sure they’re closed or completed first.
2 Now we can fill in the removal request form
but as we already mentioned, it’s quite complex because the removal link you need, will depend on the type of account you have:
- Most account types (e.g. brokerage account)> Go to https://us.etrade.com/e/t/accounts/accountclosure, sign in and fill in the form
- IRA account (e.g. Rollover IRA, Roth IRA,…) >Go to https://us.etrade.com/e/t/iradist/iradistreqpage, login and fill in the form
- Other IRA account (e.g. Simple IRA or Beneficiary IRA) > Download the Paper form from https://content.etrade.com/etrade/customer/invest/IRA_Distribution_Request.pdf and send it by mail to: E*TRADE Securities LLC

3 Did none of these work for you? Or didn’t find your account type?

If you can’t find a solution, you can also contact the customer service on https://us.etrade.com/customer-service and ask them what you need to do. There’s always a way out, you just need to find out which way matches your account type.
